Ṭaüs طاووس is the debut solo music project of transdisciplinary artist Ṭaüs Jafar. Without being tethered to medium or genre, Ṭaüs’ creative output is bold, raw, and confidently vulnerable. Their work in music explores openings into ecstatic state and poetic eroticism through the lens of queer liminality. The resulting sound is a distillation of the eclectic cultural, geographical, and identity experiences of a trans child of the Arab diaspora.

Ṭaüs’ upcoming full length, The Single Years, is the prelude to his debut LP, Arranged Marriage. The Single Years is “a tomb” to bury, honor and celebrate music made in the years prior to Ṭaüs’ gender transition.Reflecting this, the record fluctuates between dream-like visions of expansion and strange entanglements caused by intrapersonal confusion. Like AMLP, the prelude offers a sound marked by experiments in genre fusion.

His second full-length of the year comes after the warmly received Arranged Marriage LP. Singles from AMLP premiered on Apple’s “New Indie” and Spotify official playlists as well as at #3 and #4 of VEVO’s Incoming Indie and Alternative lists. Immediately breaking into broader culture, his songs have seen features on HBO Max’s Search Party, Sex Lives of College Girls, and On My Block Netflix spinoff, Freeridge.
